Matthew Edwards and the Unfortunates were formed and previously based in San Francisco, CA. Their debut vinyl album 'The Fates' was released on SF label Last Tape Recordings in October 2012. In November 2014 the group released their debut 7" single 'Minotaur' on Metal Postcard Records of Hong Kong.
